Whether you participate in fantasy football money leagues, or play fantasy football for free, you need to know how your favorite players stack up. You do not want to get stuck with a bunch of lemons, after all, or have players who are chronically injured. You also do not want to pick players who will start out great, but end up disappointing you.
So it is a good idea, when you are getting ready for fantasy football, to check out what each team is doing. With that in mind, here is a look at how the Miami Dolphins look when it comes to fantasy football money leagues and free league drafts:
Mike Wallace, WR
Wallace had 1,257 yards with 21.0/yards per reception and 10 TDs in 2010 and put up numbers almost as good in 2011, but only had 836 yards for 13.1 yards per reception in 2012, though he did have eight TDs, his third straight season with at least that number. In the offseason, Wallace signed a five-year, $65 million contract with the Dolphins, but now Wallace’s QB will be Ryan Tannehill instead of Ben Roethlisberger.
Lamar Miller, RB
Miller, a fourth-round pick in 2012, has the inside track on the starting job with the departure of Reggie Bush. As a rookie, Miller rushed for just 250 yards, though he averaged 4.9 yards per carry. Miller showed his potential in week 16 against Buffalo, leading the Dolphins in rushing with 73 yards on 10 carries.
Dustin Keller, TE
Keller had career highs in receptions (65), yards (815) and tied his career high in TDs (5) in 2011, but only started five games in an injury-shortened 2012. But unlike Wallace, he figures to be moving to a better QB in Tannehill after leaving Mark Sanchez and the Jets. Keller was a first-round pick in 2008 and the first tight end selected, drafted ahead of players such as Jermichael Finley, Martellus Bennett and Fred Davis.
Ryan Tannehill, QB
Tannehill’s 3,294 yards passing beat out fellow rookies Robert Griffin III and Russell Wilson, but Tannehill threw for just 12 TDs and had 13 interceptions. In his last five games, however, Tannehill threw for five TDs and only one INT. With Wallace and potentially Keller, the Dolphins have significantly upgraded Tannehill’s weapons.
Brian Hartline, WR
Hartline led the Dolphins in 2012 with 74 receptions for 1,083 yards, earning him a new five-year, $31 million deal. But Hartline caught only one TD. He has just six career TD receptions. In Hartline’s first three seasons, his best yardage total was 615. The Dolphins decided to make Wallace their new number one WR, signing him to a contract twice as big as Hartline’s.
Daniel Thomas, RB
Thomas outgained Miller in 2012, rushing for 325 yards with four TDs, but he had three fumbles and averaged only 3.6 yards per carry. His career YPC is 3.5.
Mike Gillislee, RB
The Dolphins took Gillislee in the fifth round in 2013. He did not become a starter at Florida until his senior year, when he rushed for 1,152 yards with 10 rushing TDS and a 4.7 YPC.
