ROCIO DE LA GRANA: INTERVIEW WITH TALENTED ACTRESS FROM ARGENTINA TAKING OVER HOLLYWOOD

Tell us a little bit about yourself, what brought you to Hollywood?

I wanted to come to LA to explore how this film industry was. I wanted to do acting for many years. I would find that career so fascinating, but I wouldn’t dare, I was a pretty shy. I decided to study filmmaking in Buenos Aires.  After graduating, I started to look for behind the camera jobs in my country, it was very hard to get one. But luckily, things happen for a reason and all of a sudden I happened to have a trip to LA. That was when I decided to talk to my parents and tell them about my decision to come here and finally start the career that I always wanted to have. It was mostly for a journey of self-discover and the need to explore something new.

So I came out here, with knowing no one nor having a place to stay, only with a dream. I went to school at Los Angeles Performing Arts Conservatory in Santa Monica. Right after graduating I started to submit myself to auditions and castings, non-stop. I booked many projects including short films, commercials, music videos, tv show, fashion film, etc. I made great contacts and I’m very grateful because many of them are recommending me or calling me to work with them again. I keep learning and challenging myself in every project. The feeling when someone else is appreciating your work and trusting you with what you love doing the most is very pleasing.

That sounds amazing, what training would you recommend?

Going to acting classes. Be prepared to audition. Put yourself out there. The best training is on set but you have to be ready to face different situations that could suddenly pop up. Also it’s good to have different skills, the more you can show you can do, the better.

What have you been up to lately, any new projects coming up?

I’ve been doing auditions and booked some short films.  I have a few offers for the upcoming weeks, mostly short film. I might be starting my first feature film as a lead this July so let’s see how everything goes. I’m so excited to see what else this year brings for me

Do you have any future goals for 2020?

I want to focus on American accent and learn more languages, maybe French and Italian. More acting training is always great. I’ll be training a lot for fighting scenes and sci-fi performance.
