Who will win the NHL West this year? We’re betting on the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks are an easy choice for us to lock up the Pacific and the Western Conference. There’s probably no other team out there in the West that can play at the highest caliber over the course of an 82-game season. Our betting predictions for the winner of the West are based on that fact that the Ducks still have the same level of talent on their roster, and they’ve actually made some improvements in the off season.
The Pacific Division
The Ducks will easily win the Pacific. The Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks still have a lot of issues to work out. Calgary isn’t quite at the caliber of play as those two teams. It’s an easy choice to put the Ducks ahead of the entire Pacific Division. Although, right now, we’re basing our bets on last season’s performance and paper, the other Pacific teams don’t have anything that puts them ahead of the Ducks for us.
The Central Division
In the Central Division, there’s talk about the Nashville Predators coming out on top and some discussion about the St. Louis Blues locking up the Central. This division is a mixed bag, as far as we’re concerned. Wrestling between the Predators and the Blues, and lightly considering the Chicago Blackhawks, is not enough to discount or challenge the Ducks in the West.
