2 mins read

We recently caught up with Velvet Datsopoulou about some of her go-to points to remember when being a filmmaker. Here is what she had to say:

What type of research do you do to prepare for each project you work on?

I usually research on the internet, travel and I watch a lot of films and documentaries that relate to the subject.

Do you like to sometimes work in the spur of the moment when you are on a project, or are you a person that is a perfectionist?

I am both. I am very spontaneous with my ideas when it comes to work, but I am very detailed, so I make sure I am as close to perfection as possible.

Sometimes certain films are left unedited in some scenes, to give a more realistic touch. Do you also like this concept?

I do like this concept and I feel people are more attracted to movies that are the closet to reality.

Who is one of your favorite filmmakers at the moment and why?

Alejandro González Iñárritu. I love his parallel cinematic style in his movies and how they all feel very real.

What is one of your favorite films at the moment?

‘A Star is Born’, Lady Gaga shined.

Who is one of your favorite actors right now?

Rami Malek.

What do you feel is the key to being an excellent filmmaker?

Choosing the right aesthetics of the scenes and the dialogue.
